After fourteen years, Britney Spears’ forced conservatorship under her father, James Spears had concluded last November. What had begun the disarray and media frenzy also marks a controversial period of the early 2000s for sancy j’s sophomore EP. With usage of audio samples from news media, public domain, and home videos, sancy is keen to sonically illustrate Y2K, a timeline of societal woes and American paranoia that fell in with celebrity and escapism.
